The committee structure within MWP is set up to reflect priorities established
through a membership survey conducted in 1997 and strategic plan developed in
1998. The three primary committees within the Steering Committee reflect the
three primary goals identified in MWP’s strategic plan.
Goal 1 — “Our Commitment to Ourselves”: The Personal
Development Committee
This committee plans and implements the following MWP events: New member
gathering, fall retreat, winter colloquium, and the spring annual meeting. This
committee also coordinates leadership for social gatherings for MWP members and
special interest groups, such as the private practice support group, support
group for those working with children, etc.
Goal 2 — “Our Commitment to
Our Profession”: The Professional Issues Committee
This committee plans and
implements non-event activities related to professional issues
that have been identified as of concern to MWP members. A
professional insurance survey is being done, and a buddy system
for members under Board of Psychology investigation is being
developed.
Goal 3 — “Our
Commitment to Women”: The Social Action Committee
This committee plans and implements non-event activities
related to broader social issues and social action on
behalf of women and girls. The Social Action Committee
is actively involved in program co-sponsorships with
other service organizations.
